Polling Station
Well yesterday was the big election here in Canada and while I don't really care for politics, I always make sure I vote. I really don't want to talk about the election today though, rather I wanted to point out something that I thought of yesterday when I went to vote. Here in Rosthern the polling station where you vote is the local Legion Hall. In most of the places I have lived the polling station is often the local school. So why is this significant you say, well as I was standing in line at my poll waiting to have my name crossed off the list and to get my ballot I looked around the building. I saw the flag in the corner, tributes on the wall to the fallen soldiers, and many other tributes to those that have served to preserve our freedom and I realized how thankful I was that I can vote and the cost that there has been in people lives to make sure that I can vote. The trip to vote became a chance to remember once again and a chance to thank all those that have served to preserve our freedom. Thank you for giving so much so I can live in this wonderful country.
I hope that you took the opportunity to vote yesterday, and be thankful that we can vote. I hope that more polling stations will be in our Legion Halls across the country, perhaps it will remind more people to be thankful and remember the cost there has been to allow us to vote.
